12 [BONUS] WHEN YOU SEE LOVE

Intro - The intro is a just some talking. A story.

Playas Punch - This is the definition of west coast production. Smooth with a funky bassline and some smooth synths. This was a short track. Just a verse but it was pretty dope.

Goodbye - On here he's spitting some real shit. Talking about the grind and how you have to start from nothing to get to where you want to be. I don't really care for the hook but it's not bad. Overall a solid song.

The Homies - The production on here is definitely west coast. I like the shot at Funk Flex because him taking a shot at Pac after his death was a bitch move. He's talking about his homies. This is a cool track but would be better with a real hook.

Turn Me Out - This is a cut for the females. It has a cool vibe and I like the beat. I like the verses but, again, I don't really care for the hook. By the end of the song the hook grew on me. Dope track.

Bet You Want Me (Now) - This reminds me of some Drake shit for some reason (not a bad thing). It's the beat and tempo of the flow. I really like this one. This is dope as hell. My favorite track so far.

Designer Shit - This beat is too dope. I like this a lot too. This just took over as my favorite track. I don't even have much to say. It's just a dope ass song.

Can't Let Go - OK Dom. No singing for you. This is wack. You sound like Diddy, bro.

CDC feat. Casey Veggies & cARTer - I think this is supposed to be some "A Milli" shit. It's cool. This guy Casey Veggies sucks. cARTer sucks too. I don't even know which is which but everybody except Dom was pretty wack on this one.

Nigga 4 Life - This is dope. He's spitting some real shit on here. Pac talking on the hook. I like this track too. Kind of inspirational.

On The Way Home - This sounds like Kid Cudi if it was his first time behind the mic. I'm not feeling this at all. He's rapping too old school or something. I don't know what the hell this is supposed to be.

When You See Love - This is cool. Smooth track. I like it. The hook is dope.

Conclusion
Dom is nice on the mic and he proves that on this tape. It's not Lupe level lyricism but it's good. He's just spitting everyday shit that people can feel. My main gripe is the lack of hooks but I can't be too mad because he mentioned it himself in one of the verses, stating that his focus was on "rhymes". It's definitely a nice project. It doesn't seem incomplete or anything. I just hope he has a full fledged album in the works because I want to hear him on some different shit. You can tell he didn't really have a particular aim for this tape as the subject matter stays the same on most tracks but it is good for what it is. Kanye West: Dope Artist But Not That GOOD Of A RAPPER.

Hear me out here. Kanye West came in the game amazing us with his songs. They were genuine, down to earth, and they actually had subject matter. Meaningful subject matter that a lot people connected with. We all loved his music so much that we saw no flaws in his rapping ability. Some of us even proclaimed him as a lyricist. Now that we've heard him rap some meaningless verses I think it's very obvious that he isn't what we thought as far as being a rapper goes. On certain songs you can hear him run out of breath at the end of lines. It sounds very bad. Listen to Monster to understand what I'm talking about. He also has some very corny lines like "remember she had that bad hip like a fanny pack".

Kanye is still a great artist I just think he's too much of a Lil Wayne fan for his own good. Don't look at your computer like "How the hell do you know he's a huge Wayne fan?" because he's said it in numerous interviews. You can tell that he likes the freedom Wayne has to jump from subject to subject in his verses. He is also using punchlines more often and has been changing up his flow. That's fine for mixtapes and certain features but please don't do it on your album. That's where Wayne fucks up and that is the exact reason he has yet to make a good album.

Do yourself a favor. Listen to Kanye's first four albums then listen to his most recent. You will hear a huge drop off in the quality of the songs. Not the sound quality but the quality of the songs themselves. The actual lyrics, hooks, and subject matter of the songs. It is in these songs and a few recent features where you realize that Kanye isn't that great of a rapper. It is his artistry and emotion that make up for that but if those aren't present what exactly are we left with?

New Music : Cee-Lo Green - The Lady Killer

Just came across this album on good ol' Twitter. I'm listening to it as I re upload it. Yes, I'm a blogger with integrity. I don't steal links, just music lmfao. This is sounding amaizing so far. I'm on "Bodies" and so far the album has a very old school feel. Some with a twist of MJ (upbeat and downtempo) and others with more of a 50s or 60s era feel. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Bruno Mars and crew (The Smeezingtons) handled the bulk of the production on this album. They have brought back the old school feel but they made it current somehow. It just works. Anyway check it out. I may revisit this post but I don't wanna type an essay lol.

Kanye West Feat. Pete Rock, Jay-z, Charlie Wilson, Curtis Mayfield, and Kid Cudi - The Joy (Prod. Pete Rock)

Download

My Thoughts

I know what you're thinking... something like "Pete Rock x Kanye x Jay?! EEK WOW" but this track is so lackluster its stupid. The beat is boring as shit. I mean BORING like a J Cole song. Maybe there's a reason this sound isn't popular anymore. Honestly I'm not tryin to hear it. The verses were on point but the beat and hook part are so wack its pointless. Not to mention u have Pete Rock doin ad libs soundin like he in a coma. This is one of those tracks Kanye just made cuz he can. Yall gone love it cuz yall love whatever he does... Stans.
